LHTL FOUNDATION CONCLUDES A SUCCESSFUL 2025 ANNUAL APPEAL
The Foundation of the Long Hill Township Public Library is pleased to announce the completion of their 2025 annual appeal, which exceeded their goal of raising $24,000 in donations from local residents and businesses.
The Long Hill Library, a cornerstone of our community, continues to offer patrons countless opportunities to read, play, and learn. In the past year, the Library:
-
celebrated 20 years in its current location on Valley Road.
-
packed its events calendar with activities like knitting clubs, Lego clubs, writer’s groups, family game nights, and more.
-
moved beyond its walls to offer book borrowing at Central Middle School, weekly book deliveries to seniors at Lounsberry Meadows, and Silent Book Club at local businesses.
-
connected your library card to the world by offering instruction in more than 70 languages through Mango and LOTE4Kids.
“Thanks to the LHT Library Foundation for their ongoing support of our library and its initiatives,” said Albie Ashbrook, Director of the Long Hill Township Public Library. “Our community loves the ease of e-books and e-audiobooks and so do we. The Foundation's support helps offset the high cost of these items, which the library gets through the digital lending platforms Libby and Hoopla and Kanopy.”
At the conclusion of this year’s appeal, with the generous support of the community, the Foundation donated more than $23,000 to support library programs and services. The remaining funds raised will be used to grow the endowment fund, which was established in 2015 to help ensure the viability and sustainability of the library for years to come.
“The Library Foundation wishes to express our deepest thanks to those who contributed to support the library today and in the future,” said Foundation Board President Heather Gillis.

LHTL FOUNDATION CONCLUDES A SUCCESSFUL
ANNUAL APPEAL
GILLETTE, NJ — The Foundation of the Long Hill Township Public Library is pleased to
announce the completion of its 2024 annual appeal, which exceeded its goal of raising
$24,000 in donations from local residents and businesses.
The Long Hill Library, a cornerstone of our community, continues to offer patrons countless
opportunities to read, play, and learn. In the past year, the library:
-packed its events calendar with activities like knitting clubs, Lego clubs,
writer’s groups, family game nights, and more.
-moved beyond its walls to offer story times at Stirling Lake, biweekly book
deliveries to seniors at Lounsberry Meadows, and Silent Book Club at local
businesses.
-saw an 18 percent increase in the kids’ summer reading program and the
highest overall circulation in five years.
“We couldn’t offer all the programs and services we provide to the community, without the
financial support of the Library Foundation,” said Albie Ashbrook, Director of the Long Hill
Township Public Library. “The Foundation’s support helps to offset the high cost of digital
lending resources, like Libby, Hoopla, and Kanopy, and host community events like our Mini
Art Shows, Bike Parades, and Kaffee und Kuchen Book Discussions.”
At the conclusion of this year’s appeal, with the generous support of the community, the
Foundation donated more than $9,000 to support library programs and services. The
remaining funds raised will be used to grow the endowment fund, which was established in
2015 to help ensure the viability and sustainability of the library for years to come.
“The Library Foundation extends its deepest appreciation to all who have supported the
library—your kindness and generosity continue to make a lasting difference,” said
Foundation Board President Heather Gillis.

OUR ANNUAL APPEAL WAS A SUCCESS!
We are pleased to announce the completion of the Foundation's 2023 annual appeal, which exceeded our goal of raising $23,000 in donations from local residents and businesses.
The Long Hill Library, a cornerstone of our community, offers patrons countless opportunities to read, play, and learn. In the past year, the Library:
- Loaned out 23,959 electronic items, including e-books, e-audiobooks, and e-magazines.
- Increased its roster of programs to include Storytime at Stirling Lake, online talks by bestselling authors, and technology assistance at Wired Mondays.
- Welcomed more than 600 people to sample its chocolate fountain, play indoor mini golf, make art, watch and discuss a film, and reconnect with neighbors and friends at the Library’s September Sunday Funday.
- Hosted free art classes taught by Blue Duck Art Studio, Danielle D’Amico of Juxtapose Gallery, Brenda Liberti of Bee Lee Blooms, and other local artists.

THANK YOU TO CLAUDIA MOTT
This month the Library Foundation celebrated the incredible tenure of Claudia Mott. Claudia was instrumental in creating the Foundation & Friends of the Long Hill Township Public Library. She has served on the board since its inception as a fierce advocate, innovator, and in various roles as treasurer and president. Effective immediately, Claudia has transitioned to honorary trustee status. The board greatly appreciates her years of invaluable service!

REMEMBERING ARLINE MOST
Message from the library staff:
We received sad news at the library today. Arline Most, the Director of the Long Hill Township Library from 1993 to 2005, has died. Arline, along with a band of dedicated volunteers, was responsible for the library as you know it today.
It's hard to imagine now, but over two years Arline orchestrated big parties at The Stirling Hotel, a teen talent show, a toddler walk, cupcake and rummage sales, a small auction, dances, and penny jars at the elementary school, to raise $500,000. That's how the Long Hill Public Library was rebuilt at 917 Valley Road!
Arline gave tirelessly of her time in managing the day-to-day operation of the old library, while directing the many details of construction, and the move to the new library.
