Other Ways to Give
A gift that helps sustain the library for future generations is an extraordinary way to contribute to our community. We encourage you to consult a financial professional to evaluate your options and discuss tax advantages. If you have any questions about ways to give or would like our tax ID number, please contact us at lhlibraryfoundation@yahoo.com.
Memorial or Tribute Gifts
Honor or memorialize someone in your family, a friend, or a community member by making a gift to the library in his or her name. The honoree (or the family, if a memorial) will receive a letter about your donation, and you will receive a receipt acknowledging your thoughtful gift.
Employer Matching Gifts
Many companies offer matching gift programs, which can effectively double your donation to the Long Hill Township Library Foundation. Check with your employer and find out if your company has a matching gift program.
Securities Donations
The Foundation accepts gifts of publicly traded securities. Donating stock can be very beneficial to your portfolio because, unlike donating cash, you typically avoid capital gains taxes and receive a larger tax deduction.
Bequests
A gift in your will is an excellent way to ensure a legacy for future generations of Long Hill Township Library users. If you are considering including the library in your estate, we encourage you to share your intentions with us. This conversation offers an opportunity for us to recognize your support for the library’s future in a way that is meaningful to you.
IRA Distributions
Gifts made directly from your IRA to the Long Hill Township Public Library Foundation often avoid income taxes, if you meet the age qualification. Gifts of any value up to $108,000 are eligible for this benefit. This popular gift option is commonly called the IRA charitable rollover or qualified charitable distribution (QCD).
Retirement Plans and Insurance Policies
The Long Hill Township Library Foundation can be named as a beneficiary of your retirement plan or life insurance policy. Donating funds from retirement plans—such as pensions, IRAs, 401(k)s, and 403(b)s—to the Long Hill Township Library Foundation may help you avoid income and estate taxes and reduce the size of your total taxable estate. The full amount of your retirement account will directly benefit the Foundation, whereas an individual beneficiary would receive only a portion of the benefit. Naming the Long Hill Township Library Foundation as the beneficiary of your retirement plan or life insurance policy is easy: just tell the administrator of your retirement or insurance plan that you wish to give all or part of the remainder to the Long Hill Township Library Foundation.
